I went to the GOOOH meeting the other night. My impression was not good. When I began asking fundimental questions of Mr. Todd, the GOOOH representative speaking, he cut me off and wouldn't acknowlege me again.
Also the initial process is flawed in how candidate selection would proceed. This would end up being a continuation of the "Good Old Boys"(or possibly worse!)club for a small community such as Libby, Montana and when they made it to the larger arena State Level" they would be eaten up!
How can a viable third party exist without a platform? I asked this question using specific examples that would creste specific problems and got shut off from asking more questions.
Additionall, the financial plan, presented to the group, doesn't work in the U.S. political environment - Unless of course Tim Cox is simply using this as a mechanism to take money out of people's pockets to secure HIS personal future.

And the Good old Boy stigma in Libby IS the problem. How can anything ever be cleaned up when dirt keeps replacing dirt.Nothing changes is why nothing changes.I do hope ya all back DC Orr as his fight is your fight but ask yourself, is Libby Mt worth it??? The last 40 to 50 years tell a story and today that story continues at a cost of more human life.Again, is Libby really worth it??? Not when the answer is deadly exposure to all who breathe.Of course, we must not forget that silent killer called Tremolite. And that Mike Crill dude telling all to stay away...to save your life...

I was also at the GOOOH meeting, and I didn't hear anyone "shut down" or "cut off" at all.
What I did hear was a lot of very good, open debate and conversation. What I saw was some very good interaction between people who are truly concerned about the direction our country is going in.
I'm sorry you didn't walk away from this in a more positive light, and disappointed that you didn't approach me (since I was the one who organized it here in Libby) and voice your concerns to me.
I would love to know what your ideas are on how to change things so we can change the "status quo". I think that GOOOH showed me a very interesting vetting system. I would love to see our local/county candidates hold an open forum and provide us with some type of questionare as to where they stand on certain issues. Lord knows it would help the people of Lincoln County become more informed voters. I dislike the "Good 'Ol Boys" network that seems to have a strnaglehold on our local political offices, and maybe as a community, we can find a way to vet our candidates to find out where they stand.
GOOOH may, or may not be the answer, but at least I'm searching for some type of help. We, THE PEOPLE, have a very large task before us. We need to get a hold on these politicians who have no interest in us, their constituents, and get them replaced. We all seem to agree on that. So instead of casting stones, how about bringing another possible solution to the table?
To Mike Crill...You're wrong. Libby is worth the fight.
The Tea Party that was here last fall brought a lot of good people in our community together to "vent". What I saw there was a lot of people asking what they could do to change it...but no one offering anything other than criticism. I didn't see anyone stepping up to the plate...so I headed up the GOOOH meeting. Like I said before, it may, or may not be the answer...but at least it's a start. If it's not the answer, then what are your suggestions? Just staying silent and complaining in the background isn't going to resolve anything. This was my attempt to find some type of solution, what's yours? I'm totally open to suggestions.

Hey Mike,
It's good to hear from you! I hope you're doing well - At least as well as possible! I was worried about you, not having heard from you for so long.
You know my position on Libby! I feel Libby is a great place and feel it is more than worth saving. We will never make it perfect, but we can work together to FORCE EPA to do their job which is to clean Libby to the greatest extent that technology allows.
Keep in touch Mike!!!

Marchette:
As to: [I did not witness anyone being "cut off".] Others besides myself did! Four individuals actually approached me on it. So I know it's not my imagination.
I agree that it is extremely important to get folks together to share concerns, thoughts, and ideas. However my personal thought is that sharing as a whole, as opposed to groups of six, would have been more productive.
As to: [Candidates don't need platforms, they need to just stand behind what they believe in.] A platform IS necessary or there will be NO unified understanding - only confusion! It would seem to me that YOU also depend on, or at least see value in a platform, by your statement: [Isn't it convenient that our Commissioner race is now "non-partisan" so we can now know even less about who we elect?? ] Remember this non-partisan issue was pushed through by the Liberal Commissioners, NOT Commissioner Berget! Tony was opposed to it!
As to: [Instead of flat out critizing an "option"...how about bringing more ideas to the table?] As I stated I tried and was not called on again after my initial questions! This is pretty much what the Democrats do to the Republicans in Washington D.C.
Last: I'm not opposed to GOOOH in the least, nor am I necessarily negative, however I am skeptical, based on my experience, that GOOOH could accomplish anything possitive! Think it through, and you'll see. If successfull, the result would be absolute deadlock in Washington! Same as now.
I'm open minded - Simply convince me!

By the way Marchette,
I'm not at all faulting you to look at options for change!!! You ARE DOING the RIGHT thing. You have brought another option to the table that folks SHOULD look at. The more options - the more likely a solution will present itself.

Hi Phillip and all. Oh I have been around,on the net more now as my voice has fadded over the years to the where a GAG order has been put on me not to print my letters.unreal huh.SO many outlets fighting to keep me quite and Libby in the past.I like you Phillip have spent many many times seeking and telling the truth. The truth. The truth Phillip is what every human being who lives in Libby and who plan on moving to Libby MUST be told.No half truth. No maybe or could be or should be or might be or use to be. The truth to what this is,what this does and who it does it to.God I am hoping that you and the rest of you with any sense and concern and TRUTH, will not allow EPA to leave town with the lie that Libby is safe. The resent 1 to 1Million chance of getting sick in Libby is criminal.ALL who breathe the air Phillip, will become sick. You know this and so do I.Everyone in Libby knows this so why are lies being allowed...CHILDREN...those we leave behind.Look what we are leaving behind. Not my or your fault but it happen/was done to US/ME/YOU/MY KIDS all kids.In all of my years of yelling the truth to stop what was done to me and all of us...the selling of Libby as safe is wrong.Tremolite is poison.Tremolite kills you.Tremolite killed rats in the 60 and 70 by MESO.MESO phillip is what Libby causes.Sickness till death. I just can't understand WHY the priority is not the children.Even when Plummer School pre kids are being exposed and I exposed this to everyone with EPA falsifing the test results...those pre kids are still their today Phillip.Maybe you can maybe you can't understand my madness to this denial to this failure to stop this, to tell the truth, to sell Libby for what Libby IS.NOT a safe place to live and raise a family.NONE of you can disagree with me or that...it is true. And it is those we leave behind that matter to me as no one speaks for them.I do and have and will continue till SOMEONE tells the truth.Tell SOMEONE SAYS LIBBY IS NOT A SAFE PLACE for anything that breathes....Try it. it feels might good...to tell the truth.Very powerful specially for a Victim....And the fight goes on. Take care my friend.

In 1999, when all this(truth) hit the fan, I submitted to the public comments many times on HOW to clean Libby right. I presented MY idea to everyone and of course...NO ONE listened or took any of my advise and hear I am explaining common sense again.Maybe this time...10 years later someone will agree with me.In 1999...I said the FIRST thing is to put a freeze on anyone moving to Libby.Second was to work from the Mine towards town first because the eye of this storm had to be dealt with. The fact that any disturbance of this Tremolite asbestos will create/cause this fiber to stay airborne and travel up to 20 miles...each time it is disturbed or someone inhales it.This is also why the Forest Service/Corp of Engeniers and EPA put a 20 mile area around the mine site/beginning at the mine site...that any forest fires will be fought by plane/air because of exposure to fire fighter to Tremolite asbestos. In a study done in the bark of trees...in one test it was found, closest to the mine, 530 MILLION Tremolite asbestos fibers in ONE gram of bark. ONE GRAM of bark is the size of the tip of your little finger. That one gram of bark...WILL KILL all of Libby over and over again.NOW...UNDERSTAND what that ONE tree contains...ALL trees are full of Tremolite asbestos and are not a issue. Then I said that all the trees would have to be cut down in order to put a cap over the mine site and all over Libby and Troy. 20 mile area. The ONLY way to do this is to hire ALL loggers out of work and when it is raining, send them all out to cut trees. This is the only time to safely do this, when it is raining. THEN level the clay banks. The CLAY BANKS ARE the ticket to resolve what is on the ground...Cover the entire town and mine site with the clay as the cap.BUT what happened? NOTHING but creation of more exposure and contamination since we all know now how deadly Tremolite is that travels 20 miles and is inhaled by you all in Libby.10 years and HUNDREDS of MILLIONS wasted and over 300 more human beings exposed to suffer till death like the rest of us...NOTHING has changed and the lies continue and the killing continues and I guess I am the only one telling all to stay away.NOT a safe place to live and raise a family...You all know that...
